ALPINE, Texas (April 17, 2026) \u2013 No. 10 Lubbock Christian delivered a dominant performance from start to finish Friday afternoon, sweeping Sul Ross State 7-0 in Lone Star Conference play at the Pete P. Gallego Center Tennis Courts to improve to 17-5 overall and a perfect 6-0 in league action.

\nThe Chaparrals immediately seized control by sweeping the doubles point without dropping a game across the three courts. The No. 6-ranked tandem of Kelly Giese<\/a> and Mattia Ghedin<\/a> set the tone with a 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, followed in quick succession by Pablo Segura<\/a> and Andres De Los Rios<\/a> (No. 44) at No. 2 and Hayden Loffler<\/a> with Andrea Rossi Principe<\/a> at No. 3, each posting identical 6-0 decisions as LCU took a 1-0 lead.

\nLCU carried that momentum into singles play and wasted little time extending the advantage. No. 4-ranked Kelly Giese<\/a> was first off court with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, quickly followed by No. 17 Pablo Segura<\/a> with an identical 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 2 to push the lead to 3-0. Mattia Ghedin<\/a> (No. 66) delivered the clinching point as the third match to finish, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles to secure the dual for LCU.

\nThe Chaparrals completed the sweep with three more straight-set victories, as Andres De Los Rios<\/a> (No. 29) rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Jordan Georgiev<\/a> followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5, and Andrea Rossi Principe<\/a> capped the match with a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6.

\nLCU’s depth and efficiency were on full display, as the Chaparrals did not drop a single game in either doubles or singles competition. Giese extended his winning streak to 17 consecutive matches, improving to 30-5 overall and 19-1 in dual play at No. 1 singles, becoming just the second player in program history to reach 30 singles wins in a season. Ghedin pushed his winning streak to seven matches (24-10 overall, 16-4 in duals), while De Los Rios improved to 26-11 on the season. Segura also continued his strong play with his 23rd win of the year, and Georgiev remained perfect in Lone Star Conference singles play at 4-0.

\nIn doubles, Ghedin and Giese improved to a team-best 15-6 at the No. 1 position, while Loffler and Rossi Principe moved to 3-1 as a pairing with their second consecutive win.

\nThe victory marked LCU’s first trip to Alpine and improved the Chaparrals to 2-0 all-time against Sul Ross State. With the win, LCU remains unbeaten in conference play and can clinch at least a share of the Lone Star Conference regular-season title with a victory in its next dual Saturday in Silver City, N.M., against Western New Mexico.
