Friday’s victory was TCU’s fourth shutout over the Bears in that span. TCU stretched its lead in the all-time series vs. Baylor to 48-26.

TCU, the No. 2 seed in the six-team affair, now faces top-seeded Arizona (21-3, 8-1 Big 12) at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday for all the marbles. The Wildcats, tabbed No. 9 in the ITA rankings, survived No. 14 UCF 4-3 to set up the championship match.

Bonding was the top performer for the Horned Frogs. The freshman clinched the doubles point alongside Cooper Woestendick on court two via a 6-4 victory over Luc Koenig and Connor Van Schalkwyk. The senior took out the strongest position in Baylor’s lineup, defeating No. 44 Velcz 6-1, 7-5. Velcz entered the postseason clash with a 13-3 record at the position and team-leading 14 dual victories.

TCU notched its ninth victory over a team presently featured in the top-20 of the ITA rankings and seventh away from home. A win over the Wildcats, winners of 16 straight, gives the Horned Frogs a shot at earning the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament depending on results in the SEC Championship.

Saturday’s final affords the Frogs an opportunity to avenge a 4-0 defeat to Arizona on March 22 in Tucson in a match that decided the Big 12 regular season championship. The Wildcats were fortunate to play TCU, Baylor and UCF at home. They also drew the Horned Frogs in their first match without Rolland De Ravel but will now battle TCU at full strength and on a neutral court.

Doubles Rundown
TCU’s No. 1 ranked doubles tandem of Rolland De Ravel and Chan lost for the first time all season. Velcz and Alexandru Chirita rode an early break to a 6-3 victory over the seemingly automatic pair.

It didn’t matter though.

Bonding filled in on the 1-line during Rolland De Ravel’s injury absence. With the Frogs’ captain back, Bonding slotted in at the third position with fellow freshman Maximus Dussault.

They secured the first break of the doubles point, jumping in front 3-1 vs. Devin Badenhorst and Calven Bairel. The TCU sophomore duo nearly won their match on a deuce leading 5-3. The Bears saved the game but Woestendick won all four of the subsequent points on serve to put it to bed.

TCU improved to 21-4 in doubles play on the year.

Pedrico and Woestendick moved to 8-2 as partners.

Bonding leads TCU in dual doubles victories (12) and has won four straight completed matches.

Dussault tallied his team-leading eight win on the 3-line.

Doubles Results

Alexandru Chirita / Zsombor Velcz (BU) def. #1 Duncan Chan / Cosme Rolland De Ravel (TCU): 6-3
Albert Pedrico / Cooper Woestendick (TCU) def.
