Public safety officials responded to Northshore Park on Saturday morning<\/p>\n

THE WOODLANDS, Texas \u2013 Officials with the IRONMAN Texas triathlon have confirmed that a participant died during the swim portion of Saturday\u2019s event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are saddened to confirm the death of a race participant during the swim portion of today\u2019s IRONMAN Texas triathlon,\u201d the organization said in on social media. \u201cWe send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the athlete and will offer them our support as they go through this very difficult time. Our gratitude goes out to the first responders for their assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Authorities responded Saturday morning at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive, in The Woodlands, regarding the incident.<\/p>\n
Public safety officials from the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, and The Woodlands Fire Department are investigating.<\/p>\n
Details on the identity of the participant or anyone else involved are limited.<\/p>\n
