Without foster placement, many of the kittens could face euthanasia due to limited space and resources.

SAPA! says the situation is preventable with community support and is asking residents to temporarily open their homes to help save lives during the seasonal surge.

The organization provides all necessary supplies, including formula, bottles, food and litter, along with full medical care and ongoing guidance from experienced staff and foster mentors. San Antonio Pets Alive! also assists with adoption placement, including transport opportunities to help kittens find homes outside the area.

Fostering options vary to fit different schedules and lifestyles. Bottle-fed kittens, typically 4 weeks old or younger, are best suited for people who are home frequently or have flexible schedules. Older, weaned kittens can be a good match for those who work full time. Nursing mother cats with their litters are another option, with the mother handling most of the care.

Most fostering commitments last between two and four weeks. The organization says volunteers caring for kittens younger than 8 weeks can earn up to four hours of volunteer credit per day.

“This is one of the most critical times of the year for kittens in our community,” a representative with San Antonio Pets Alive! said. “We have the resources and the will to save them, but we cannot do it without foster homes. Every single foster truly makes a difference and saves a life.”

Those interested in fostering can email foster@sanantoniopetsalive.org or complete the organization’s online kitten foster application here.

San Antonio Pets Alive! urgently seeks foster families for an influx of neonatal kittens facing euthanasia due to…

[8
82,84,83
0":"post-256083","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-antonio","8":"tag-san-antonio","9":"tag-san-antonio-headlines","10":"tag-san-antonio-news
["GET
