GAINESVILLE, Fla. \u2013 The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up its meets across the country Saturday evening, highlighted by the women’s 4×400 team breaking a 21-year old record at the\u00a0Tom Jones Memorial Invite.<\/p>\n

The men’s quartet of John Sherman<\/a>, Jonathan Crawford<\/a>, Josiyah Taylor<\/a> and Kimarlie Stewart<\/a> clocked in at 38.89. The women’s team of Alyssa Colbert<\/a>, Olayinka Olajide<\/a>, Anita Afrifa<\/a> and Brianna Howard<\/a> combined for a time of 42.92, a new SB and No. 4 all-time in Tech history.<\/p>\n Colbert ran a blistering time of 11.11 (1.7w) in the 100m as she placed eighth overall. The time goes down as No. 6 all-time for Tech.<\/p>\n Mt. SAC In the high jump, BJ Jennings cleared a SB 2.20m (7-2 \u00bd) for second place.<\/p>\n Joe Gillespie Notables<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fanny Arendt<\/a> opened her season in the 800m (7th) going 2:02.18, No. 2 all-time for Tech<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Desean Boyce<\/a> paced the men’s 400m crew finishing 9th with a time of 45.52<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 True freshman Kyzer Dunbar<\/a>d placed 9th in the 800m invite (1:46.75). Meanwhile, George Garcia<\/a>, running the event for the first time, finished 16th with a time of 1:48.67<\/p>\n \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 1500m races cap off the Red Raiders weekend at the Bryan Clay. \nIn the final event of the day, the Tech women broke the school record in the 4×400. The team of Vanessa Balde<\/a>, Mekenze Kelley<\/a>, Lovia Ewusi and Collinique Farrington<\/a> combined for a time of 3:28.64, taking down the 2004 record of 3:29.49<\/p>\n
\nTemitope Adeshina<\/a> opened her outdoor season clearing 1.95m (6-4.75) for the win. It’s No. 3all-time for TT and going into the weekend, it’s the No. 1 mark in the NCAA. Tamiah Washington<\/a> won the triple jump on her last attempt. Washington bounded 13.41m (44-0) (2.7w) to take home the title. On the men’s side, Jonathan Seremes<\/a> made his outdoor debut placing third with a mark of 16.32m (53-6 \u00bd) (1.5w).<\/p>\n
\nTrey Wilson won the men’s shot put with a throw of 16.90m (55-5 \u00bc). The women’s shot put saw the Red Raiders go 1-2-3, led by Faith Mitchell<\/a> with a toss of 16.35m (53-7 \u00be). Amori Pierson<\/a> in second threw 16.08m (52-9) as McKenzie Davis<\/a> landed a mark of 14.22m (46-7 \u00be) in third.<\/p>\n
