The following day, the family of 17-year-old Ty\u2019Ron Kuria said they are grieving and searching for answers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey took my sister\u2019s lastborn, and it\u2019s just eating her alive,\u201d said Raekeia Jenkins, Kuria\u2019s aunt.<\/p>\n

Jenkins said she learned of her nephew\u2019s death while on her way to see him in Tyler.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the way up here, I got the call that he didn\u2019t make it\u2026 on the way up here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She described Ty\u2019Ron as a loving teen who was always around family and had a bright future ahead. He was supposed to graduate from high school next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy nephew won\u2019t be able to walk that stage\u2026 my sister\u2019s not going to be able to clap for him and congratulate him,\u201d Jenkins said.<\/p>\n
Police said Kuria was at the park with friends when the shooting happened. Investigators said multiple witnesses heard several gunshots and saw people running from the area. Officers later found Kuria in a nearby field with gunshot wounds. He later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
Wylie ISD confirmed Kuria was a student at the high school and a former student at Achieve Academy. In a statement from Achieve Academy, it wrote quote \u201cTy’Ron was a valued member of our campus\u201d.<\/p>\n
The statement from Wylie High School said in part, \u201cHe was well loved by his friends, teachers, and administrators on every campus he attended.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey took that from him and so much more,\u201d Jenkins said. Police said they are working to identify those responsible and are continuing to investigate the shooting.<\/p>\n
Jenkins had a message for whoever is involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo the people that took his life, I just don\u2019t understand why you would do that\u2026 your day will come,\u201d she said. \u201cAin\u2019t no point of hiding, you might as well turn yourself in.\u201d<\/p>\n
