A luxurious home with ties to one of the most legendary farming, oil and ranching families in Texas<\/a> is officially off the market. But the future owners won’t just have the chance to live in a piece of Texas history. They’ll also get to own a rare property designed by one of the world’s most famed architects.<\/p>\n

The Westover House near Fort Worth is also known as the Tandy House due to being the former residence of heiress Anne Burnett Tandy and her fourth husband, Charles Tandy of Tandy Corp. Charles died in 1978 and Anne died in 1980, but the house has remained in the family for more than four decades. The property has now been listed for $22 million, according to an\u00a0exclusive report from the Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Anne Tandy gained her fortune after inheriting the famed 6666 Ranch<\/a> from her grandfather in 1922 at age 21. The 6666 Ranch is better known today for Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan buying the expansive property and featuring it in his TV shows, but Tandy was a renowned breeder of American Quarter Horses and helped expand the family’s oil and ranching interests. That wealth enabled Chinese architect I.M. Pei to design a home in Westover Hills, outside Fort Worth, in 1969 that would become the Westover House.<\/p>\n

Pei, who was born in China but moved to the U.S. in the 1930s, established himself as one of the world’s most renowned architects by designing the Louvre Pyramid, the John F. Kennedy Library, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and even Dallas City Hall. Pei died in 2019 at age 102, but his work stands the test of time. The Westover House, according to the Wall Street Journal, is one of only three private homes Pei is known to have designed in his lifetime.<\/p>\n

The property comes with seven bedrooms, three kitchens, three living rooms, two dining rooms, two climate-controlled wine cellars and an art gallery, according to the Wall Street Journal.
