HOUSTON \u2014 Houston billionaire Dan Friedkin\u2019s bid for a North American professional team has once again come up short.<\/p>\n
A group led by Friedkin, the owner of The Friedkin Group, was among the final four bidders<\/a> for the MLB\u2019s San Diego Padres. However, multiple reports indicate that the baseball club will be sold<\/a> to private-equity billionaire Jos\u00e9 E. Feliciano and his wife, Kwanza Jones. The deal values the Padres at $3.9 billion \u2014 the highest valuation ever for an MLB team.<\/p>\n The Friedkin Group did not respond to a request for comment prior to publication.<\/p>\n This is not the first time Friedkin has lost out on a bid for a major North American professional franchise.<\/p>\n In 2025, it was reported that Friedkin was among the suitors for the NBA\u2019s Boston Celtics<\/a>.
