CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS \u2013\u00a0McNeese baseball dropped the series finale to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 9-5, on Sunday afternoon at Chapman Field.<\/p>\n
With the loss, the Cowboys fall to\u00a021-18 overall (10-10 Southland Conference), while the Islanders improve to\u00a017-21 overall (6-13 SLC). McNeese returns home Tuesday to host Louisiana Tech, with first pitch set for\u00a06 p.m.\u00a0on ESPN+.<\/p>\n
McNeese struck first in the second inning as Isaiah Keller<\/a> came around to score, giving the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n Texas A&M-Corpus Christi answered with a big inning in the bottom half, plating five runs. Will Stark delivered a bases-clearing double to left-center field to drive in three runs, followed by an RBI single from Jarrett Flaggert and an RBI double from Jaden Reynolds to give the Islanders a 5-1 advantage.<\/p>\n McNeese chipped away over the next two innings. Keller launched a solo home run in the third to cut the deficit to 5-2, and Connor Walker<\/a> added an RBI single in the fifth to make it 5-3.<\/p>\n The Islanders responded with three more runs in the fifth inning, extending their lead to 8-3.<\/p>\n McNeese answered in the sixth with two runs. Danny Barbero<\/a> scored on a throwing error as Keller advanced, and DJ Pinkerton<\/a> followed with an RBI single to bring the Cowboys within three at 8-5.<\/p>\n Texas A&M-Corpus Christi added an insurance run in the seventh on a solo home run by Hunter Azemar to make it 9-5.<\/p>\n
