Corpus Christi hit a pair of grand slams to down Northwest Arkansas 9-5 in Texas League baseball Saturday night at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.<\/p>\n
The Naturals loaded the bases in the top of the ninth to bring the tying run to the plate, but Sam Kulasingam struck out for the fourth time in the game to end it.<\/p>\n
Corpus Christi (8-6) snapped a 4-4 tie in the fourth. Garret Guillemette singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an RBI-double by Tommy Sacco Jr. for a 5-4 lead. Walker Janek’s grand slam broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh.<\/p>\n
The Hooks loaded the bases with two walks and a single by Tommy Sacco Jr. prior to Janek’s first home run of the season of Naturals reliever Zachary Cawyer (0-1).<\/p>\n
Both teams traded grand slam home runs in the first two innings. Corpus Christi took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Hooks loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batsman with two outs. Guillemette hit the ball out of the park to left to get Corpus Christi on the board.<\/p>\n
Northwest Arkansas (7-7) tied it in the top of the second. Brett Squires walked and Daniel Vazquez beat out an infield single. Omar Hernandez was then hit by a pitch with two outs to load the bases. Colton Becker hit his first home run of the season to tie the game 4-4.<\/p>\n
The two teams will finish off the six-game series on Sunday afternoon.
