{"id":257483,"date":"2026-04-20T02:22:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T02:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/257483\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T02:22:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T02:22:08","slug":"abandoned-mansion-near-san-antonio-sparks-drak-rumors-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/257483\/","title":{"rendered":"Abandoned mansion near San Antonio sparks drak rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It started with a simple question on Saturday, April 11, when a\u00a0user posted a photo in the r\/SanAntonio subreddit asking: \u201cWhat\u2019s the deal with that one abandoned mansion on a hill?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Within hours, the thread filled with theories, stories and lingering questions about the home and the mystery surrounding its original owner.<\/p>\n<p>Some commenters said they watched the house go up, only for construction to suddenly stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched that go from ground up then stop,\u201d one user wrote. \u201cWould drive by it every day coming into SA for work\u2026 I believe the owner was involved in some activities we shall not talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others claimed to have heard similar rumors, suggesting the builder ran out of money or vanished under unclear circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>The property is in Bear Springs Ranch near Farm to Market 1283 and County Road 2730 in Mico, Texas. And according to\u00a0Redditors familiar with the area, the stories only get stranger from there.<\/p>\n<p>One commenter said the original owner was a brick mason from Mexico who may have had ties to illicit activity. Others recalled seeing horses left behind on the property after construction halted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I use to live in that neighborhood&#8230; . OG owner was supposedly a Brick Mason from Mexico. Allegedly had ties to some recreational exports of that country. They had a few horses there as well that were left and later rescued,&#8221; read one comment. &#8220;No humans ever moved in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another recalled a particularly unsettling detail:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Years ago a white horse was tied up to the fence at the first intersection past the entrance to the neighborhood. It was there for weeks&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some users joked about the house being cursed or haunted, while others leaned into darker theories about crime and bad luck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been in towns with an abandoned mansion, and almost always someone says it\u2019s a story of bad luck,\u201d one commenter wrote. \u201cI say a story of unsuccessfully selling your soul to the devil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zillow.com\/homedetails\/0-County-Road-2720-Cres-2721-Mico-TX-78056\/447572597_zpid\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to Zillow<\/a>, the home was built in 2008 and never completed and sits on 10.1 acres. The partially constructed home is about 6,490 square feet and is currently listed for $699,000.<\/p>\n<p>On the outside, the mansion is stately, and from afar, it may even look pristine. But inside, photos show evidence of crumbling infrastructurea and walls vandalized with graffiti.<\/p>\n<p>Details about the original owner remain limited.
