LCU then took advantage of walks in the second game and held off a late Aggie rally for an 8-5 win.

The Chaparrals have now won seven straight games, which is their longest win streak of the season. They are 28-18 and would be the No. 5 seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament if the season ended today.

GAME ONE

Lubbock Christian opened the scoring in the first inning when Kyle Lewis reached on a fielding error and Hudson Grace doubled down the left field line, bringing Lewis home. Grace later scored on a wild pitch himself. The Chaps kept pressure on the Aggie starter, putting two more batters on, but a pair of flyouts kept them from adding any more runs.

Nall took the mound with a 2-0 lead, but surrendered a leadoff home run to Wyatt Cunningham. It would be the only run he surrendered all day.

The Seguin, Texas, native ended up turning in one of the best Chaparral pitching performances of the season. He allowed just three more hits the rest of the way en route to his fifth win of the season. He threw 112 pitches, 71 of which were strikes.

Nall’s 13 strikeouts are the most in a game by an LCU pitcher since Armando Valle had 14 against Eastern new Mexico on April 9, 2021, but even that was in a nine inning game. The last time a Chaparral pitcher had as many strikeouts in a seven inning game Feb. 10, 2019, when Callan Johnson fanned 13.

The lead stayed 2-1 until the fourth inning, when Chase Ditmar reached on a throwing error, setting the stage for Tanner Pachorek’s two-run homer to deep left field, extending the Chaparrals’ lead to 4–1.

LCU added three more runs in the seventh inning. Ryan Gargett scored on Ditmar’s sacrifice fly. Freddie Nolen and Aaron Morales, who entered as a pinch runner, scored on a fielding error, bringing the final score to 7–1.

GAME TWO

Lubbock Christian took an early lead in the first inning again in the second game with Jorge De Los Santos hitting a two-run homer to deep left field, bringing home Hudson Grace, who singled earlier.

In the third inning, De Los Santos continued his strong performance with an RBI double to right-center field, scoring Grace, who reached on a fielding error. Cameron responded with a run of its own, as Wyatt Cunningham scored from first base on Zane Roos’ RBI double to cut the scored to 3-1. Roos moved to third on a wild pitch, but Chap starter Kyle England got a strikeout to end the threat.

The Chaps expanded their lead in the bottom of the fifth, doing four runs worth of damage on just one hit. Pachorek had the one hit, sandwiched between walks to Nolen and Kyle Lewis. A walk to De Los Santos pushed in the first run of the frame. Owen Alsup followed with another RBI walk, and Johnny Gomez III, pinch-hitting for Roe Forrest, walked to bring in another run. De Los Santos then scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 7–1.

In the sixth inning, Kyle Lewis doubled and was driven in by De Los Santos’ bunt single, adding another run to the Chaparrals’ tally, making it 8–1.

Cameron mounted a comeback attempt in the seventh inning, scoring four runs off reliever Evan Roach, who had pitched a scoreless fifth and sixth. With a runner still in scoring position, Will Cooper came out of the bullpen and struck out Brent Holden to win the game and complete the sweep.

GAME NOTES:

Nall’s 13 strikeouts are also the second-most in a game by an LSC pitcher this season
The Chaps scored exactly two runs in the first inning of all four games this weekend. They are now 13-7 this season when scoring in the first inning and 16-6 in which they score first overall
Will Cooper’s game-ending strikeout gave him his first save of the season and made him the eighth different LCU player with a save this year, which is the most by the Chaps in the NCAA era (since 2016). It surpasses the mark of seven pitchers with a save set by the 2024 squad
De Los Santos’ five RBIs are tied for the most in a game by a Chaparral this season. It has been achieved by three other players
With two home runs on the day, Lubbock Christian is back tied for first in the LSC with 50 as a team. Pachorek’s home run made him the 13th different Lubbock Christian player with a round-tripper this year
Pachorek also stole his first two bases of the season on Sunday, giving LCU 12 different players with at least one swiped bag

[16
168,170,169
0":"post-257493","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-lubbock","8":"tag-lubbock","9":"tag-lubbock-headlines","10":"tag-lubbock-news
["GET
