NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – On Sunday, the City of Navasota hosted its 14th annual Texas Birthday Bash, drawing more than 1,000 people to August Horst Memorial Park.<\/p>\n
Attendees gathered to enjoy country music artists including Neal McCoy, Payton Howie, Stoney Larue, Jon Wolfe, and Gannon Fremin & CCREV. In addition to the music, there were local vendors, food trucks, and a petting zoo for the kids.<\/p>\n
Birthday bash promoter Charlie Diggs said it is an opportunity for families to spend time with one another.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love our state, but seeing everybody out smiling, kids having fun — they\u2019re not on their phones,\u201d Diggs remarked. \u201cThey\u2019re having a good time with family, walking around, petting the animals, going and buying vendors, supporting local and all the small businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
Savory Fine Foods Director of Market and Product Development David Ferguson said his team has supported the birthday bash since it began by making baskets for all the artists.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust as a thank you to all the bands who come out here, I always put together a gift basket with all of our products — a few additional things because it\u2019s all about supporting the local community and showing appreciation to those who actually come here to do these type of events,\u201d Ferguson explained.<\/p>\n
While the birthday bash is fun, it also helps draw tourists to Navasota and its businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about showing the general public that Navasota is a great place and there\u2019s so much to do here, and it\u2019s not crazy harried the way it is in a lot of metro areas. You can take your time and enjoy every event that they have here and the community at large,\u201d Ferguson commented.<\/p>\n
Diggs said this is the first time the birthday bash was held on a Sunday, and planning is underway for next year.<\/p>\n
