HOUSTON \u2013 Early voting for the May 2 special elections officially starts Monday, April 20, and runs through April 28.<\/p>\n
This round of voting includes the Texas Senate District 4 race, where Democrat Ron Angeletti is facing Republican Brett W. Ligon.<\/p>\n
In Harris County, officials say seven voting centers will be open during early voting, including locations in Kingwood, Huffman, Crosby, Highlands, Spring, North Houston, and downtown. <\/p>\n
On Election Day, that number expands to 27 polling locations.<\/p>\n
Beyond the Senate race, voters will also weigh in on local issues. In Magnolia, for example, the fire department is asking voters to approve a sales tax increase to 8.25 percent to help fund additional staffing.<\/p>\n
Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth is expected to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. Monday, outlining voting details and reminding residents where and when they can cast their ballots.<\/p>\n
Voters should also keep in mind that polls will be closed tomorrow in observance of San Jacinto Day.<\/p>\n
This early voting period is separate from early voting for the primary runoff election scheduled for May 26.<\/p>\n
