The past few days have brought rain and lightning to San Antonio. As the grey skies persist, a beloved Fiesta event has been canceled on Monday, April 20.<\/p>\n
The city’s annual 11-day celebration kicked off on Thursday, April 16, casting the Historic Market Square and other parts of downtown in colorful shades of pink, orange, and green. However, the official Fiesta San Antonio account announced<\/a> on Instagram\u00a0that Air Force & Space Force Day<\/a> will no longer occur.<\/p>\n It was scheduled to take place at the Alamo, located at 300 Alamo Plaza, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to the organization’s website, it typically included demonstrations and performances by United States Air Force units, including the Air Force Band of the West. The group of Airmen is described as highly-trained professional musicians who help serve their country through music.<\/p>\n “The safety of our community and service members is our top priority,” a statement from the organization read, a\u00a0Fiesta San Antonio’s post states. “Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We hope to see you at other Fiesta events soon, Viva!\u201d<\/p>\n MySA reached out to the Alamo for more information on whether it will be rescheduled. A spokesperson provided us with a press release, which states that this year’s event is canceled due to steady rain in the weather forecast.<\/p>\n “The Alamo is grateful for the Air Force’s partnership and its service to our nation,” the press release read.<\/p>\n Several other Fiesta events are expected to continue as planned on Monday. This includes the Witte Museum’s Coronation Gallery Open House, the San Antonio Food Bank’s Doing Good on the Green Golf Tournament, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas’s The Pilgrimage to the Alamo. Additionally, the Fiesta Carnival at the Alamodome, the Texas Cavaliers\u00a0River Parade, and Fiesta de los Reyes will still operate,\u00a0Fiesta San Antonio\u00a0says.<\/p>\n
