A man in Lubbock was arrested over the weekend following a convenience store fight that led to\u00a0the shooting death of a 37-year-old.<\/p>\n

On Friday, April 17, the Lubbock Police Department (LPD) responded to a call of shots fired at a convenience store on the 5900 block of Avenue P<\/a> at 10:36 p.m.<\/p>\n When officers arrived on the scene, they located 37-year-old Jonathan Trevino<\/a> with a gunshot wound. He also suffered several serious injuries, requiring an EMS transport to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n An investigation was immediately opened where it was discovered that Trevino and another man, 41-year-old Tommy Rios<\/a>, were inside the convenience store, later exiting as they began to engage in a verbal altercation.<\/p>\n Tommy Rios, Lubbock County Detention Center<\/p>\n Tommy Rios, Lubbock County Detention Center<\/p>\n The argument escalated to such a point that Rios produced a firearm and shot Trevino before fleeing the area.<\/p>\n Together with the help of the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center<\/a>, surveillance footage of the area was obtained, and Rios was located and arrested at 2 o’clock in the afternoon the next day on April 18.<\/p>\n Tommy Rios was sent to the Lubbock County Detention Center<\/a> on a $300,000 bond.
