According to court records cited by FOX 26 Houston<\/a> and KHOU<\/a>, Faux had pleaded guilty less than two months earlier to assaulting Allen. He had originally been charged with assault\u2013continuous family violence, a third-degree felony, before accepting a plea deal on Feb. 19 to a reduced charge of assault of a family member. He was sentenced to 280 days in county jail and given credit for time already served.<\/p>\n Allen\u2019s mother, Trisa Gaines Colbert, has said she believes her daughter\u2019s death could have been prevented. \u201cIf they would have kept him, my daughter would have still been here,\u201d she said, according to KPRC.<\/p>\n PEOPLE previously reported<\/a> that Allen, who was eight months pregnant with her first child, was last seen April 8 and was reported missing April 10 after her mother received a message from her phone reading, \u201cI\u2019m leaving, not coming back.\u201d<\/p>\n Ashanti Allen Her body was found April 16 near a bayou in Houston\u2019s Chimney Rock area, PEOPLE previously reported.
