SPRINGDALE, Washington County \u2014 A 68-year-old Texas man died after a fall at Zion National Park on Friday.<\/p>\n
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Utah’s Office of the Medical Examiner identified the man Monday as Gilberto Ramos, of Laredo, Texas.<\/p>\n
Ramos was hiking at the park when he fell from the chained section of the Angels Landing trail at Zion National Park in southern Utah around 2 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office said in a press release. Park rangers and local law enforcement agencies responded to the incident after reports from visitors. Ramos was located on the north side of Angels Landing in Zion Canyon near Big Bend.<\/p>\n
The West Rim Trail, including Scout Lookout and Angels Landing, was temporarily closed during response and recovery operations.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Angel’s Landing will be closed from Monday through Thursday for scheduled maintenance unrelated to Friday’s incident.<\/p>\n
