UPDATE (April 20, 2026) — The El Paso Police Department says human remains were found Monday during debris removal operations. <\/p>\n
According to EPPD, contractors discovered the remains of an unknown male. <\/p>\n
The Crimes Against Persons unit was called in and is now investigating. <\/p>\n
UPDATE (April 20, 2026) — The El Paso Fire Department said the cause of the fire was arson.<\/p>\n
Two buildings were damaged. A house was a “total loss,” EPFD said. It said the fire started in the back of the house’s patio and spread to the second building.<\/p>\n
Firefighters knocked the fire down within an hour, EPFD said. In total, 50 firefighters extinguished the fire.<\/p>\n
Nobody was in the buildings. EPFD said no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
UPDATE (1:50 PM– 4\/19\/26) — A spokesperson for the El Paso Fire Department said the fire is being investigated by officials as arson. <\/p>\n
The spokesperson said that the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
UPDATE (9:00 a.m.) — A spokesperson for the El Paso Fire Department said that firefighters were able to get the fire under control just before 10 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
Battalion Chief Kris Menendez told ABC 7 that firefighters were able to get water on the fire within five minutes at the initial two story structure but strong winds spread the flames to a second residence nearby.<\/p>\n
A total of 37 units and around 50 firefighters as well as officers from the El Paso Police Department responded to the fire, Battalion Chief Menendez told ABC-7.<\/p>\n
According to EPFD, several people were evacuated as a precaution and there were no injuries.<\/p>\n
Battalion Chief Menendez told ABC-7 that one person is displaced due to the fire. <\/p>\n
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Once more information is provided, we will update you on air and online. <\/p>\n
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA)–A massive fire broke out in South El Paso, according to the El Paso Fire Department. The department reported it as a condition four fire. <\/p>\n
Fire crews responded to the scene at 1314 Magoffin, where heavy flames and smoke were visible. We have a crew heading to the scene. <\/p>\n
