The Dallas Cowboys and kicker Brandon Aubrey have reached an agreement on a record contract extension, the organization announced Monday.

The extension for the former restricted free agent will be worth $28 million over four years, with $20 million guaranteed, two people familiar with the contract confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. The amount makes Aubrey, who is now signed through 2030, the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.

Aubrey, 31, is considered one of the top kickers in the NFL. He’s made the most field goals from 60 yards in league history and has made 88.2% of his field goal tries in his career.

Last season, Aubrey made 85.7% of his field goal attempts and missed just six field goals overall (36 of 42). The only misses Aubrey had were from 50 or more yards.

In a Week 2 win over the New York Giants, Aubrey made a 64-yarder to end regulation and a 46-yarder as time expired in overtime. He became the first kicker in league history to accomplish both in the same game.

During the season, it seemed Aubrey was in a race to set a NFL record for the longest field goal. The mark at that time was 66 yards. Jacksonville’s Cam Little set the record with a 68-yard field goal. The next day, Aubrey missed from 68 yards.

On a Thursday night in Detroit, Aubrey made five field goals, becoming the first kicker in league history to convert three field goals of 55 or more yards.

Before the 2025 season, Aubrey asked for a contract with a $10 million average but was rebuffed. So he went into the season knowing his future was uncertain.

After a solid season, which earned him his third Pro Bowl berth, Aubrey entered free agency as a restricted free agent. Aubrey was placed on a second-round tender, worth $5.7 million earlier this offseason. However, no NFL teams submitted an offer sheet to try and swipe him from Dallas.

Houston kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn had the highest average salary for a kicker at $6.5 million. This offseason, Fairbairn signed a two-year, $13 million contract extension.
