Twice, now, in a little over a month’s time, Texas baseball right-handed pitcher Sam Cozart has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Here’s how Inside Texas broke down Cozart’s performance:

“Cozart’s first appearance on the weekend was on Friday, relieving Dylan Volantis on the mound. Cozart entered the game in the 7th inning, facing 10 Alabama batters as part of his fifth save on the season. Of the 10 batters faced, Cozart retired nine of them. Five were retired via strike out and only one batter reached base. His 3.0 innings pitched were dominant, he did not allow a single hit. He entered the Saturday game in the 9th inning, closing out what would be the series clinching 3-1 victory. His final strikeout was the 19th of the game, tying a program record for strikeouts in a nine inning game. Of 13 batters faced on the weekend only one became baserunner and that was from a walk. Cozart struck out eight hitters across 4.0 hitless innings, notching a couple of saves as a result.”

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING ABOUT THE LONGHORNS

Austin American-Statesman: Even with Arch Manning limited, Texas sees explosive potential after spring

Austin American-Statesman: What grades did the Longhorns deserve for the 2025-26 season?

Austin American-Statesman: Texas volleyball returning to Moody Center for a match in 2026

247Sports: Spanning Texas: Latest photos showing the progress being made on Texas’ new football practice facility

247Sports: With the transfer portal closing on April 21, here’s what Texas basketball’s rotation may look like next year

247Sports: Horns247 Roundtable: What Texas football needs; expectations for men’s BKB; and UT baseball’s biggest obstacle

Inside Texas: How can Jim Schlossnagle maximize the bottom of the Texas Baseball batting order going forward?

Inside Texas: Spring game redshirt freshmen flashes

Inside Texas: Spring game true freshman flashes

Inside Texas: Texas Spring Recap: Parsing the zero-sum aspects of Longhorns spring football

ICYMI IN BURNT ORANGE NATION

Ruger Riojas strikes out 11 as No. 4 Texas beats No. 11 Alabama, 3-1

Observations from the spring-ending Texas practice

Auburn transfer F Elyjah Freeman commits to Texas

Four-star EDGE Derwin Fields commits to Texas

RECRUITING ROUNDUP

Austin American-Statesman: After Texas transfer, Justice Carlton to play with sister at Houston

Austin American-Statesman: Top 2026 recruit Oliviyah Edwards visits Texas following Tennessee split

247Sports: Texas football added a character evaluation to its transfer portal process.
