Lubbock city officials and local businesses are bracing for a massive influx of visitors as country music legend George Strait headlines two consecutive shows at Texas Tech University’s Jones AT\\&T Stadium on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Local news outlet kfmx.com reports that the event is expected to mirror the logistical intensity of two consecutive football game days, testing the city’s traffic systems and hospitality capacity. Texas Tech Athletics confirmed that an in-the-round staging configuration will be used to maximize seating for the high-demand performances.

The concert series features a rotating lineup of opening acts, with Dylan Gossett and Zach Top scheduled for Friday, followed by Miranda Lambert and Texas Tech alumnus Hudson Westbrook on Saturday. Lonestar 92.3 is hosting a final ticket giveaway event this Thursday at Titan Factory Direct in Odessa to provide fans a last chance for entry.

City observers note that the demographic for the “Strait to Texas Tech” shows may differ from typical collegiate crowds, potentially leading to unpredictability on local roads and in restaurants. Businesses in the Hub City expect a significant economic boost as fans travel from across the region for what is billed as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Have been off social media for a while cuz I had to go kick cancer’s a–,” wrote Cohn, Social Media Personality.

The statement was accompanied by a photo from a hospital bed, marking a personal update amid the broader regional entertainment news. Meanwhile, other artists in the country circuit are reaching new milestones, including Miranda Lambert, who recently secured a new recording contract with Republic Records.

“I haven’t weighed in. I’ve been afraid of the scale,” admitted Jelly Roll, Country Artist.

The artist’s candid remark comes as he prepares for upcoming appearances, while fellow Texan Aaron Watson returns to the industry with a new album following successful vocal surgeries. Residents not attending the Lubbock performances are advised by local media to expect significant delays near the stadium district through Sunday morning.

Lubbock city officials and local businesses are bracing for a massive influx of visitors as country music legend…

[16
8085,12437,15984,168,97100,170,169,1769
post-259411","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-lubbock","tag-country-music-news","tag-george-strait","tag-jones-att-stadium","tag-lubbock","tag-lubbock-concerts","tag-lubbock-headlines","tag-lubbock-news","tag-texas-tech
["GET
