CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A man is speaking out after a shooting Monday night that left him hurt, and police said it led to an arrest.<\/p>\n
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers were called around 7:35 p.m. to the 1100 block of 15th Street for a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim, Matthew Rosas, with a gunshot wound.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He was taken to a hospital and is expected to be okay.<\/p>\n
Police say they identified the suspect as Nathaniel Paiyou. He was later found on North Shoreline Boulevard, taken into custody without incident, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n

Rosas said the shooting is tied to a problem that started years ago in high school. \u201cBeef from high school about four years ago\u2026 I guess he held a grudge,\u201d Rosas said.<\/p>\n
Rosas said he was shot in the leg and the bullet is still there. \u201cIt\u2019s still in there\u2026 the hospital didn\u2019t want to take it out,\u201d he said. Rosas said he knew right away he had been shot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI knew immediately\u2026 it felt like a burning sensation. It\u2019s just a flesh wound,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rosas said he went to meet someone but ended up running into the suspect instead. \u201cI thought I was meeting a friend\u2026 but it wasn\u2019t. He drove up and started shooting,\u201d Rosas said.<\/p>\n
He said he hid behind a car while shots were fired before the suspect drove away. Rosas also reported damage to the vehicle, saying it had been hit more than once.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt looks like the vehicle got hit two times\u2026 a big hole here and another on the inside,\u201d he said. He added that the car is not his. \u201cThe crazy part is it\u2019s not even my car,\u201d Rosas said. Even after everything, he said he is thankful.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m good\u2026 I\u2019m thankful,\u201d he said.
