{"id":260063,"date":"2026-04-21T21:00:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/260063\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T21:00:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:00:07","slug":"parish-episcopal-schools-rover-team-takes-first-in-nasa-herc-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/260063\/","title":{"rendered":"Parish Episcopal School&#8217;s Rover Team takes first in NASA HERC challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parish&#8217;s team includes Plano residents Anushka Nagchoudhury (&#8217;27), Nicholas Chronis (&#8217;28) and Isaac Lemeshev (&#8217;28).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Three Plano students are part of the Parish Episcopal School\u2019s Rover Team that took first place in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/centers-and-facilities\/marshall\/nasa-announces-32nd-annual-human-exploration-rover-challenge-winners\/#:~:text=In%20the%20remote%2Dcontrol%20division,the%20college%20and%20university%20title.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NASA\u2019s Human Exploration Challenge<\/a> (HERC).<\/p>\n<p>The HERC is NASA\u2019s longest-standing student challenge, requiring students to design, build and test a lunar rover and compete with groups from around the world over the course of nine months. Parish competed alongside more than 500 other students, with 28 collegiate teams, 13 high school teams and one middle school team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis challenge gives students a hands-on opportunity to think like engineers and problem-solvers, applying real-world design principles to complex exploration scenarios,\u201d said Vemitra Alexander, who leads the Human Exploration Rover Challenge for NASA\u201ds Office of STEM Engagement. \u201cBY encouraging innovation and teamwork, we\u2019re helping prepare the next generation to contribute to missions that will take us father into space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.parish.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Parish<\/a> took home first place overall in the Human-Powered High School Division, the Safety Award, Project Review Award, Phoenix Award, and Task Tool Award.
