Tuesday night, the Arlington City Council approved\u00a0a major extension agreement that keeps the team in place through 2055<\/a>, passing the measure in a 7\u20132 vote.<\/p>\n The deal builds on a plan voters originally approved in 2004, extending the team\u2019s lease and franchise commitment by 15 years. City leaders say it maintains the current venues and tax structure, with no new or increased taxes. Revenue generated will remain tied to the stadium district.<\/p>\n Under the agreement, the Cowboys<\/a> would invest about $750 million in stadium improvements, maintenance, and operations, while the city would contribute roughly $273 million. That public funding comes from a half-cent sales tax\u00a0that voters approved to help build the stadium<\/a>.
