{"id":260626,"date":"2026-04-22T04:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T04:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/260626\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T04:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T04:18:07","slug":"sa-lands-on-2026-list-of-best-big-cities-to-start-a-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/260626\/","title":{"rendered":"SA lands on 2026 list of best big cities to start a business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>San Antonio has appeared on WalletHub&#8217;s new list of the best large U.S. cities for starting a business in 2026 \u2014 landing in the No. 64 spot nationally for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p>The annual <a href=\"https:\/\/wallethub.com\/edu\/best-cities-to-start-a-business\/2281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">report<\/a> compared 100 U.S. cities based on 19 relevant metrics across three key dimensions: business environment, access to resources, and costs. Factors that were analyzed include five-year business survival rates, job growth comparisons from 2020 and 2024, population growth of working-age individuals aged 16-64, office space affordability, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Florida cities locked out the top five best places in America for starting a new business: Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Hialeah, and St. Petersburg. <\/p>\n<p>San Antonio&#8217;s business environment ranked as the 37th best in the country, and the city ranked 52nd in the &#8220;business costs&#8221; category. However, the city lagged behind in the &#8220;access to resources&#8221; ranking,  coming in at No. 98 overall. This category examined metrics like San Antonio&#8217;s working-age population growth, the share of <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/city-life\/best-grad-schools-2026-utsa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">college-educated<\/a> individuals, financing accessibility, the prevalence of investors, venture investment amounts per capita, and more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From the Gold Rush and the Industrial Revolution to the Internet Age, periods of innovation have shaped our economy and driven major societal progress,&#8221; the report&#8217;s author wrote. &#8220;However, the past few years have been particularly challenging for business owners in the U.S., due to factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great Resignation and high inflation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, WalletHub <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/city-life\/texas-3rd-best-for-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">declared<\/a> Texas the third-best state for starting a business in 2026, but the personal finance website has <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/city-life\/least-hard-working-city-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">snubbed<\/a> San Antonio in the past by naming it one of the least-hardworking cities in the country. In 2024, San Antonio was dubbed the 54th best large U.S. city for new businesses, but <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/city-life\/wallethub-cities-business-san-antonio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">slumped<\/a> eight spots to its current No. 64 ranking last year.<\/p>\n<p>Texas cities with strong environments for new businesses<br \/>Multiple cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex can claim bragging rights as the best Texas locales for starting a new business. Dallas ranked highest overall \u2014 appearing 11th nationally \u2014 and Irving landed a few spots behind in the 16th spot.
