Happy Earth Day, Houston! First held in 1970, Earth Day is a longstanding global event celebrating conservation, advocacy, and sustainability. This week, Houston is celebrating Mother with a festival, rooftop yoga, free meals, and more. Continue below for more details! <\/p>\n

\nDiscover Green Earth Day Celebration<\/p>\n

This Saturday, Discovery Green will be hosting the Green Mountain Energy Earth Day festival. Running from noon to 5 pm, the festival will feature a Magpies & Peacocks recycled fashion show, University of Houston art installation, as well as curated pieces by Houston recycled goods-artist, Glee Ryan. <\/p>\n

Furthermore, Discovery Green will host a variety of hands-on craft workshops ahead of performances of Dennis McNett of Wolfbat\u2019s 12-foot-high puppets. <\/p>\n

\nPOST Rooftop Yoga at Skylawn<\/p>\n

This Wednesday, POST and Black Swan Yoga are hosting a special rooftop yoga session. Taking place at Skylawn, the all-levels class will focus on 108 Sun Salutations in a grounding, Earth Day routine. <\/p>\n

\nBrassica Earth Day Celebration<\/p>\n

Eastern Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant Brassica is bringing its Earth Day tradition. This Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, Brassica is offering one free entr\u00e9e to dine-in guests at its location on Voss Road. <\/p>\n

Entr\u00e9e options include falafel, sandwiches, and salads. The venue will also feature live music this Wednesday. <\/p>\n

\nKOYAANISQATSI Screening at ARTECHOUSE<\/p>\n

This Wednesday, ARTECHOUSE will host a special, fully immersive screening of KOYAANISQATSI. Scored by Philip Glass, the film is a mesmerizing time-lapse of nature in the American Southwest succumbing to industrialization and urbanization.<\/p>\n

The event will also feature a screening of Johnathan Caouette\u2019s new short film The Blazing. Tickets are priced at $25. <\/p>\n

\nRooftop Planting Party at The Finn<\/p>\n

The Finn chef-driven food hall, home of HiFi listening lounge, Swallow\u2019s Nest, and more, is set to host a special rooftop Plant Potting Party this Wednesday. <\/p>\n

The experience will feature a live demonstration of plant care as well as a Q&A led by an expert. Tickets include two complimentary glasses of wine, or mocktails if so inclined.
