{"id":261109,"date":"2026-04-22T12:51:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T12:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/261109\/"},"modified":"2026-04-22T12:51:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T12:51:19","slug":"taste-of-the-northside-boasts-an-elevated-culinary-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/261109\/","title":{"rendered":"Taste of the Northside boasts an elevated culinary experience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Live music and elevated food, curated wine and cold beer \u2014 that\u2019s the Fiesta experience at the <a href=\"https:\/\/brightonsa.org\/taste-of-the-northside-2026\/#entertainment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Taste of the Northside<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event, to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, will feature vendors from a who\u2019s who of San Antonio restaurants offering upscale bites and top shelf drinks across the expansive Frost Plaza at The <a href=\"https:\/\/therockatlacantera.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rock at La Cantera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Think lobster tar tar from Eddie Vs Prime Seafood and prime beef sliders from Ruth\u2019s Chris Steakhouse. Mini meatballs and carrot cake from The Palm and Kona crusted lollipop lamb chops from Capital Grille.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou are getting steak kabobs and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches the size of a fist,\u201d said Brighton Center CEO Katrina Campbell. \u201cYou are getting free shuttles and free parking and no lines for food.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The cost to enjoy the elevated food, no-line experience is not cheap. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/taste-of-the-northside-2026-tickets-1978415328505?utm-campaign=social&amp;utm-content=attendeeshare&amp;utm-medium=discovery&amp;utm-term=listing&amp;utm-source=cp&amp;aff=ebdsshcopyurl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Select tickets<\/a> are $318.50 each. Premier tickets for $600 apiece are sold out. All proceeds benefit the <a href=\"https:\/\/brightonsa.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brighton Center<\/a>, a nonprofit that supports children with disabilities and developmental delays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal this year is to raise about $650,000,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cThe whole goal is for children with developmental delays to be as kindergarten ready as possible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/JonathanIvy-TasteofNorthside-2025-270.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5438438\"  \/>Taste of the Northside guests mingle and sample food and drink at the Rock at La Cantera.  Credit: Courtesy \/ Jonathan Ivy<\/p>\n<p>Taste of the Northside was first held In 2000 as a small food and wine tasting initiated by wine and liquor store owners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecopawinebar.com\/about\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Bridges<\/a> and Angie Bridges, Jeff\u2019s late wife who died in 2024. The inaugural event raised $6,000 for the Brighton Center. It grew, became an official Fiesta event and today raises more than $600,000.<\/p>\n<p>Held for years at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clubatsonterra.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Club at Sonterra<\/a>, the fundraiser gathered momentum until the COVID-19 pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020 and 2021. It resumed in 2022 and moved to The Rock at La Cantera in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event will feature live music from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thevelvetbandsa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Velvet Band<\/a>, a DJ, walking entertainment and food and drink samples from more than 50 restaurants. Recognized names include Blu Prime Steakhouse, Kirby\u2019s Steakhouse, The Jerk Shack, Toro Kitchen &amp; Bar, Maggiano\u2019s and Bras\u00e3o Brazilian Steakhouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among the eateries making their debut is <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonioreport.org\/new-stone-oak-restaurant-aims-to-succeed-in-space-where-many-have-failed\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/sanantonioreport.org\/new-stone-oak-restaurant-aims-to-succeed-in-space-where-many-have-failed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Stone Oak\u2019s Katerina Restaurant &amp; Bar<\/a>, which opened in February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be serving a miniature version of our smoked Wagyu meatballs with sweet potato pur\u00e9e and pickled red onion with some black truffle aioli,\u201d said Katerina chef Justin Manzi. \u201cWe will also have miniature lemon lime tarts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/JonathanIvy-TasteofNorthside-2025-292.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5438439\"  \/>A vendor offers chicken on a stick to a guest at the Taste of the Northside in 2025.   Credit: Courtesy \/ Jonathan Ivy<\/p>\n<p>Since opening at the corner of Stone Oak Parkway and Loop 1604, Katerina\u2019s has filled its dining room, held private parties and generated buzz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say we are 95 percent full Thursday through Saturday and 60 to 70 percent full on the other days,\u201d said co-owner Dick Jones. \u201cIt has far exceeded our expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.niosa.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A Night In Old San Antonio<\/a>, Taste of the Northside features music, food, dancing and the bright colors of Fiesta. Unlike NIOSA, which draws more than 85,000 people a year, Taste of the Northside attracts a fraction of that crowd. Organizers expect approximately 3,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love where we are located,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cThe Rock is just so open and beautiful.
