To celebrate Hurricane Harbor\u00a0Splashtown’s 40th summer season, the park north of Houston will open soon with some upgrades and a new beer garden.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The iconic Houston water park opens<\/a> for the season from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 2. The park is open weekends in May with daily operation set for June 1.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The water park began its Houston history as\u00a0Hanna-Barbera Land for a short time and has also been named Wet’n’Wild SplashTown and Splashtown USA before becoming Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in 2019 under the Six Flags<\/a> company.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The milestone opening celebrates Hurricane Harbor Splashtown\u2019s 40th season while kicking off summer with significant park enhancements, refreshed attractions and new guest offerings,” according to a news release from Six Flags, which owns the water park.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For this season, park goers will notice upgrades to the wave pool for enhanced waves in Hurricane Bay. The park’s catering kitchen has been revamped and all of the park bridges have received upgrades.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A new feature is the addition of a Beer Garden for those 21 and up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures and Typhoon Texas – Katy<\/a> opened for weekend hours this month. Schlitterbahn Galveston also opens May 2.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Of note, Six Flags Entertainment\u00a0Corp. sold seven parks in early March, including Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston, for $331 million to the Kansas-based real estate investment trust EPR Properties. Still, plans are moving forward for the park’s summer season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Silver, Gold and Prestige passes are available for $65, $85 and $125 respectively and each offers different access tiers.
