Marine Day at the Alamo,\u00a0slated to kick off\u00a0at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, was canceled “due to weather,” organizers announced on Facebook\u00a0<\/a>shortly before 9 a.m. Scheduled to take place at the Alamo Plaza, the event<\/a> “affords Texans (and those that want to be Texans) the chance to meet with ‘their Marines’ and view some of the latest military equipment from free-fall parachutes and combat diving to the latest small arms and vehicles used today by the Corps.”<\/p>\n

“Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” the Facebook announcement reads. “We hope to see you at other Fiesta events soon, VIVA!”<\/p>\n

More light rain is in the forecast for the I-35 corridor on Wednesday, April 22, according to the National Weather Service,<\/a> though “another round of locally heavy rain is possible.” The eastern third of South-Central Texas is most likely to see heavier rainfall, with totals up to four inches in the cards. However, temperatures are expected to warm up, and drier weather will return “for the rest of the week.”<\/p>\n

Marine Day at the Alamo isn’t the only Fiesta event to be nixed amid severe storms in San Antonio.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Monday, April 20, Fiesta San Antonio announced the cancellation of\u00a0<\/a>the Texas Cavaliers River Parade as well as Fiesta De Los Reyes at Market Square, the Fiesta Carnival and Air Force Day at the Alamo<\/a>, citing a “flash flood warning and additional rain forecasted throughout the evening.” Fiesta De Los Reyes also saw a delayed start the following day, and Tuesday’s Ain’t Gonna Resta ‘Til After Fiesta Dance was called off. Army day at the Alamo, also set for Tuesday, April 21, was canceled as well.<\/p>\n

Fiesta De Los Reyes<\/a> began on Friday, April 17, and will run until Sunday, April 26. Each day, the event is scheduled to open at 10 a.m., and tickets are available for $6.47 each, including fees. Children under age 12 can attend at no charge with an adult.<\/p>\n
