The new indoor space will also now be home to the zoo’s newest resident, Olive the two-toed sloth.

The complex will be updated in two phases with the help of the Amon G. Carter Foundation, William E. Scott Foundation, The Ryan Foundation and Leo Potishman Foundation, according to the release. Phase one included improvements to guest areas, animal habitats, and staff workspaces behind the scenes.

Those improvements also include the new habitat housing Olive, the zoo said.

“We are always excited when there is an opportunity to introduce Fort Worth to a new animal at the Zoo,” said Michael Fouraker, executive director of the Fort Worth Zoo. “Guests have long requested a sloth, and we’re thrilled to provide a home for one. We hope the sloth species’ popularity and charm will inspire connection and allow us to continue our mission of strengthening the bond between humans and wildlife by providing close-up experiences with and fostering an appreciation for animals.”

One of the major improvements guests will notice is boardwalk access to the World of Primates indoor island, which was previously occupied by only animals, the release states. Visitors will also see a new suspended bridge and indoor landscaping providing a tropical habitat for the zoo’s aviary residents, which includes 20 species of exotic birds.

Several behind-the-scenes improvements will also ensure the World of Primates complex remains comfortable and safe for both animals and employees.

Phase two of improvements will begin later this year. Those improvements will include filling the gorilla moat, which will double the size of their habitat, and replacing boardwalk structures.

The Fort Worth Zoo introduced a new resident to its World of Primates complex after it received much-needed…

[10
116,118,117,7227,16763,60984,97840,97842,97841
0":"post-261486","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fort-worth","8":"tag-fort-worth","9":"tag-fort-worth-headlines","10":"tag-fort-worth-news","11":"tag-fort-worth-zoo","12":"tag-improvements","13":"tag-primates","14":"tag-ryan-foundation-and-leo-potishman-foundation","15":"tag-the-world-of-primates","16":"tag-william-e-scott-foundation
["GET
