Twelve years later, it could happen again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-channels-pixel.ex.co\/events\/0012000001fxZm9AAE?integrationType=DEFAULT&amp;template=design%2Farticle%2Fplatypus_two_column.tpl\" alt=\"\" class=\"x1px y1px vh abs\" aria-hidden=\"true\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>More than a decade ago,\u00a0Aggies\u00a0offensive lineman Jake Matthew (No. 6 overall to Atlanta), wide receiver Mike Evans (No. 7 to Tampa Bay) and former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel (No. 22 to Cleveland) were picked in the first round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s A&amp;M group features wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/kc-concepcion-nfl-draft-2026-texas-am-football-21298564.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">KC Concepcion<\/a>, edge rusher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/nfl-combine-2026-cashius-howell-21944154.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Cashius Howell<\/a> and offensive lineman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/chase-bisontis-nfl-draft-texas-am-aggies-21279645.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Chase Bisontis<\/a>, all three of whom have been range around the top 20-40 top prospects in the class.<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/isaiah-horton-texas-am-kickers-22213650.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Texas A&amp;M freshmen, Isaiah Horton shine plus other takeaways from 2026 spring game<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They headline an Aggies group that earned a school-record <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/nfl-combine-cashius-howell-texas-am-21347750.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">13 NFL combine invites<\/a>, a scenario head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/texas-am-football-spring-mike-elko-holmon-wiggins-22081144.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Mike Elko<\/a> envisioned last spring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When you look at the current roster, we project to have more NFL draft picks on this (2025) football team than we have had in quite a long time,&#8221; Elko said May 21. &#8220;I think you can see anywhere from 10 to 12\u00a0Aggies get their name called next year in the NFL draft.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - SEPTEMBER 27: Cashius Howell #9 of the Texas A&amp;M Aggies celebrates after making a sack against Jackson Arnold #11 of the Auburn Tigers (not pictured) in the fourth quarter of the game at Kyle Field on September 27, 2025 in College Station. Edge rusher\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/aggies\/2025\/04\/24\/shemar-stewart-cincinnati-bengals-nfl-draft-2025\/83208445007\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Shemar Stewart<\/a> went first at pick No. 17 to Cincinnati, with his running mate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/aggies\/2025\/04\/25\/nic-scourton-carolina-panthers-name-nfl-draft-second-round\/83147724007\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Nic Scourton<\/a>, not far behind at No. 51 to Carolina. Rounding out the group was defensive tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/sports\/college\/aggies\/2025\/04\/25\/shemar-turner-chicago-bears-nfl-draft-2025\/83099490007\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Shemar Turner<\/a> at pick No. 62 to Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Although they were the only three Aggies players selected in the draft class, it may have signaled the future for the program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Stewart and Turner were homegrown talents,\u00a0spending their entire collegiate careers in the maroon and white. However, Scourton was a one-year transfer portal add, a theme that could continue this year.<\/p>\n<p>Bisontis spent all three seasons with the Aggies, beginning his career under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. But Howell and\u00a0Concepcion. Potential first-round selections were brought in from elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>Howell was an all-Mid-American Conference selection in 2023, spending two seasons with Bowling Green. From there, the 6-foot-3 pass rusher committed to Elko in his first season in Aggieland, tallying 15\u00bd sacks, 22\u00bd tackles for loss and two forced fumbles over his two seasons in College Station.<\/p>\n<p>The Kansas City native was a rotational pass rusher in 2024, behind Stewart and\u00a0Scourton. But he bided his time and eventually exploded into one of the SEC&#8217;s premier pass rushers, winning SEC defensive player of the year, catapulting himself into first-round pick conversations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Concepcion&#8217;s success was more\u00a0instantaneous.<\/p>\n<p>He began his career at North Carolina State\u00a0before coming to the Aggies in 2025. He was named the 2025 Paul\u00a0Hornung Award winner as the most versatile player in major college football, after starting in all 13 games, recording 919 receiving yards, 61 receptions and nine touchdowns. Martinez\/Austin American-Statesman<\/p>\n<p>Other Aggies have a chance to go early, too<\/p>\n<p>The top three Aggies should be long gone before the draft&#8217;s final day Saturday, but several more could be selected late Friday night and early into the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>Offensive lineman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/texas-am-football-aggies-pro-day-nfl-cfb-sec-22091778.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Dametrious Crownover<\/a> is ranked 108th on Pro Football Focus&#8217;s big board after a strong Senior Bowl week. Cornerback <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/will-lee-iii-nfl-draft-2026-texas-am-football-21303375.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Will Lee III<\/a> is another transfer portal addition, who made a tremendous mark on the Aggies. Lee is ranked 114th by PFF after two strong seasons roaming A&amp;M&#8217;s secondary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/tamu-football-cashius-howell-trey-zuhn-iii-21234847.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Trey Zuhn III<\/a> (No. 143) is an offensive lineman who could hear his name called on Day 2 Friday, while LB <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/taurean-york-nfl-draft-texas-am-aggies-21280445.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Taurean York<\/a> (No. 145), who started every game in his three-year collegiate career with the\u00a0Aggies, could hear his name early Saturday as well.<\/p>\n<p>Running back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/leveon-moss-nfl-draft-2026-21327610.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Le&#8217;Veon Moss<\/a> (No. 150) was highly productive when on the field, finishing his career with 1,767 total rushing yards and 22 touchdowns over\u00a037 games. The main concern is his health, as he failed to reach 10 games in any season during his four-year collegiate career.<\/p>\n<p>Tight end <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/texas-am-football-aggies-pro-day-nfl-cfb-sec-22091778.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Nate Boerkircher<\/a> (No. 158) was a walk-on at Nebraska before making an immediate impact for the Aggies, including a go-ahead touchdown in the final minute of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/texas-am-aggies-score-today-notre-dame-week-3-21040923.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Week 3 win over Notre Dame<\/a>. Offensive guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/armaj-reed-adams-nfl-scouting-combine-21317808.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Ar&#8217;Maj Reed-Adams<\/a> (No. 185) served as a captain in 2025, while defensive tackle\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/sports\/college\/aggies\/article\/tyler-onyedim-texas-am-aggies-football-20817615.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Tyler Onyedim<\/a> (No. 244) was another impact transfer for the Aggies after four seasons at Iowa State.<\/p>\n<p class=\"uiTextSmall f aic jcc\">Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n<p>All told, Elko&#8217;s double-digit prediction for draft picks looks to be a strong one. But what may be more impressive is that it could be the second consecutive season that A&amp;M has multiple first-round draft picks.
