Yesterday, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) leadership and community members gathered at the Samuel Grand Recreation Center to celebrate the one-year anniversary of \u201cSeniors On The Move,\u201d a community-driven fitness initiative that has transformed how local seniors engage with both physical health and public safety.<\/p>\n

Launched as a pilot program in April 2025, the initiative has reached nearly 300 residents over the past year. What began as a local workout session has evolved into a city-wide traveling wellness and information resource, fostering a culture of health and connection across Dallas\u2019 recreation centers.<\/p>\n

To mark the milestone, DFR Chief Justin Ball, alongside Assistant Chiefs and the Community Outreach team, joined residents for a special workout session yesterday morning. The exercises are led by long-time community leader Cedric Bailey, who designed the free, accessible routines specifically for the city\u2019s senior population.<\/p>\n

Beyond the fitness benefits, the program serves as a vital bridge to public safety. Participants receive life-saving fire safety education directly from DFR members and gain access to vendors providing essential resources and community assistance tailored to the needs of older adults.<\/p>\n

As \u201cSeniors On The Move\u201d enters its second year, Dallas Fire-Rescue remains committed to prioritizing the well-being of the city\u2019s most experienced residents. The department plans to continue bringing energy, music, and health education to recreation centers throughout Dallas.<\/p>\n
