A 68-year-old man died after being hit by a car in Arlington on Tuesday night, April 21, police said.<\/p>\n
Arlington police officers responded about 9 p.m. to the intersection of South Cooper Street and Lovers Lane after receiving reports that a 2015 Toyota Avalon hit someone who was in the roadway, police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found the man lying unresponsive on the ground. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Avalon stopped and cooperated with the investigation. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver, according to police.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined that the man was crossing Cooper Street from west to east when the Avalon travelling northbound hit him, police said.<\/p>\n
Police said the area does not have a designated crosswalk and the man was not wearing bright or reflective clothing. The driver told officers that he did not see the man before the crash.<\/p>\n
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office<\/a> will identify the man who died after his next of kin is notified.<\/p>\n The Arlington Police Department reminds pedestrians to always use designated crosswalks or traffic lights when crossing roadways, especially when visibility is low.<\/p>\n Related Stories from Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/p>\n
