EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 El Paso police arrested a registered sex offender on Tuesday after they said he met up with a child. <\/p>\n

According to the El Paso Police Department, 47-year-old Jesus Alfredo Cuellar, a registered lifetime sex offender, was arrested after an investigation allegedly revealed that he had contacted and met a 9-year-old.<\/p>\n

EPPD is accusing Cuellar of failing to report a new phone number, social media accounts and email address, something police said Cuellar has to as a registered sex offender. <\/p>\n

Jail records show Cuellar was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail and charged with three counts of failure to comply with sex offenders’ duty to register life\/annual, with a combined bond set at $300,000.<\/p>\n

According to jail records, as of Wednesday afternoon, Cuellar remains in jail.<\/p>\n

Following the arrest, EPPD issued a statement saying that the department “maintains a zero-tolerance stance on these violations.”<\/p>\n

Furthermore, EPPD’s Sex Offender Registration and Tracking (SORT) unit reminded the community that it will continue to monitor registered sex offenders and arrest them if they violate their conditions and encouraged the public to report possible violations at 915-832-4400 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477. <\/p>\n
