Aldi\u00a0\u2014 known for its growth\u00a0\u2014 has shut down in one part of North Texas.

The grocer said it closed down a store in Far Northeast Dallas this week, according to an emailed statement from the company. The shop operated<\/a> for about 15 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAldi has made the difficult decision to close our store located at 9779 Forest Lane,\u201d the company said, adding that the store\u2019s last day was Tuesday. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Aldi still offers more than 20 locations to shoppers around North Texas. That includes another spot on Forest Lane (to the west of the store that\u2019s closing) and another on Preston Road. \u00a0<\/p>\n

While the grocery market in the Dallas-Fort Worth area has seen a lot of investment, some grocers have pruned their lineups, including\u00a0Kroger and Albertsons with its Tom Thumb brand. The closures have affected cities such as Fort Worth, Plano and Allen<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Aldi, which had its first store in Germany <\/a>more than a century ago, has many locations in Texas, including cities such Bryan, Waco and Houston. The chain uses smaller-format stores and is known for focusing on options for the budget-conscious.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the company said<\/a> it would open more than 180 stores in the U.S. across 31 states.<\/p>\n

With the closure of Aldi in Dallas, employees have been offered a transfer to a store of their choice, and no jobs were lost.\u00a0<\/p>\n
