Might be a number 2 and that would denote 2,000 gallons,&#8221; said  Corpus Christi Water COO Nick Winklemann.<\/p>\n<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 As water restrictions continue across Corpus Christi, some residents are asking a basic question: how do you even read your water bill?<\/p>\n<p>While paying bills isn\u2019t always enjoyable, city officials say understanding what you\u2019re being charged for doesn\u2019t have to be confusing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat bill includes water, wastewater, solid waste and there\u2019s a storm water fee,\u201d said Corpus Christi Water COO Nick Winklemann, describing what customers typically see when they open their bill.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHow to read your bill                    <\/p>\n<p>If you go to the city\u2019s website and scroll down, you\u2019ll find an option to pay your bill. After logging in with your username and password, you can view an itemized breakdown of charges, along with your monthly usage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsage for the month and you\u2019ll see a number, one number. Might be a number 2 and that would denote 2,000 gallons,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nWhy it matters right now                    <\/p>\n<p>3NEWS spoke with residents Kimberly and Taylor, who say understanding water usage is especially important during ongoing conservation efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see what our usage is and I try to decrease it. To someone who\u2019s concerned about and who\u2019s really doing their part to conserve, yeah it matters,\u201d Kimberly said.<\/p>\n<p>Winklemann said conservation remains critical as the city looks ahead.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, City Council discussed the possibility of a Level 1 water emergency projected for September, \u00a0a move that would introduce water allocations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recommended for Corpus Christi residential customer would be five thousand two-hundred and fifty gallons per month,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While the city is recommending customers scale back, some residents say individual efforts can only make so much impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a resident we can definitely do what we can but it comes down to the city officials and to really get this error back on track,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Winklemann said anyone with questions about their bill can visit the city\u2019s website or call 311 for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cUsage for the month and you\u2019ll see a number, one number.
