<\/p>\n DENTON, Texas \u2013 Tarleton State Softball dropped a midweek non-conference matchup on the road Wednesday, falling 8-2 to North Texas at Lovelace Stadium. The Texans moved to 31-18 overall\u00a0on\u00a0the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n North Texas struck first in the opening inning, using a solo home run to take an early\u00a01-0\u00a0lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Texans evened things up\u00a0in\u00a0the top of the second when Isabella Bojkovic<\/a>\u00a0launched a solo home run to center field, tying the game at 1-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Mean Green regained control in the bottom half of the fourth. After a leadoff walk, North Texas connected on a two-run home run to left field to take a 3-1 advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tarleton\u00a0State\u00a0responded in\u00a0the fifth\u00a0to cut into the deficit. Mariah Debose<\/a> reached\u00a0on a fielder’s choice\u00a0and moved into scoring position before Mikayla Wilson<\/a> delivered an RBI single up the middle, making it a 3-2 game.\u00a0<\/p>\n North Texas broke the game open\u00a0in\u00a0the bottom of the inning with a five-run frame. The Mean Green strung together multiple hits, including an RBI single and RBI double, before a three-run home run capped the inning and extended the lead to 8-2.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tarleton\u00a0State\u00a0was unable to generate a comeback over the final two innings, as North Texas closed out the game with a scoreless sixth and seventh.\u00a0<\/p>\n Abigail Dowell<\/a> took the loss after allowing three runs over three innings of work. Alex Aguilar<\/a> and Sadie Beck<\/a> combined to cover the middle innings, while Gracie Riney<\/a> tossed a scoreless sixth inning in relief.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Texans were limited to four hits on the day, highlighted by\u00a0Bojkovic’s\u00a0solo home run and Wilson’s RBI single. Braylin Pannill<\/a> and Addison Wittram<\/a>\u00a0also recorded hits for\u00a0the Purple and White.\u00a0<\/p>\n Tarleton State will return to conference play this weekend as the Texans\u00a0welcome Utah Tech in their final home series of the season.\u00a0Texan Softball will also honor their graduating seniors with Senior Day on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
