The bulk retailer will anchor a corridor already seeing rapid growth, joining a 40-tenant H Mart shopping a mile away.<\/p>\n

HALTOM CITY, Texas \u2014 Costco Wholesale Corp. will construct a new Costco Business Center and fuel station at 4909 NE Loop 820, the city announced, marking what local officials are calling one of the most significant economic wins in the city’s recent history.<\/p>\n

The location is slated to open in early 2027 <\/a>and is expected to create more than 100 jobs with starting salaries of $32 an hour, according to city officials.<\/p>\n

Costco Business Centers differ from traditional Costco warehouses in their inventory mix, stocking items tailored to businesses such as professional-grade kitchenware and industrial supplies \u2014 though the locations remain open to all Costco members and carry groceries and other everyday goods. According to the company, more than 70% of the items offered in a Costco Business Center are distinct from those found at a standard Costco.<\/p>\n

“It should serve as a very big catalyst for regional development, not just in Haltom City,” said Robert Briggs, Economic Development Director, Haltom City.<\/p>\n

Briggs describes a residential boom that set the stage for commercial interest at the scale now materializing.<\/p>\n

About a mile from the planned Costco site, another major development is already taking shape. A new retail center anchored by Asian supermarket H Mart has leased all of its storefronts<\/a>, with 40 businesses in various stages of opening, city officials said.<\/p>\n

Among those businesses is Caf\u00e9 Bom Bom and XO Corndog, a family-owned concept opened by Younhoo Chung and his daughter, Esther. The pair is preparing to open next week, offering Korean corn dogs and boba teas, smoothies, and coffee to a customer base, Esther said, that was long underserved.<\/p>\n

“We were really excited because there are no Korean or Asian markets near our house,” she said.<\/p>\n

For Younhoo Chung, the venture has been months in the making \u2014 and the nerves show. “Actually, I couldn’t sleep,” he said of the lead-up to opening. “I’m very excited.”<\/p>\n

The Chungs said they chose Korean corn dogs as their entry point into the market deliberately.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We thought the Korean corn dogs are like the easiest way they could come into Korean culture because of its food,” Esther Chung said.<\/p>\n

Briggs said the convergence of large-scale retail investment and small business activity reflects exactly the kind of multiplier effect the city has been working toward.<\/p>\n

“There are multiple ways these businesses end up helping the community, whether it’s the young people who are looking to enter the workforce, whether it’s creating jobs, or it’s tax revenue,” Briggs said.<\/p>\n
