Police shared the warning in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Austin_Police\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">statement<\/a> at around 5:15 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the train derailed in the area of Bowie Street and West 3rd Street. The site is located in the city&#8217;s downtown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Expect delays and closures as crews work in the area. Avoid the area if possible and stay safe,&#8221; the Austin Police Department (APD) said in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p>Officers are on the scene to assist. Union Pacific Officials told APD that the train derailment is also blocking the 1300 West Oltorf Street and Mary Street railroad crossings. Drivers who need to pass these ways should take an alternate route. As of now, it&#8217;s unclear what caused the derailment and if anyone was injured.
