A 10-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of a 13-year-old girl in February, which stemmed from a large fight at a Houston apartment complex.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Riley DeArmas, 13, was identified by Houston police as the girl who was stabbed and killed\u00a0in the altercation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“She should still be laughing, growing and dreaming \u2014 but instead, our world has been forever changed,” according to a GoFundMe page<\/a> organized by her mother. “Riley\u2019s life mattered far beyond the headlines \u2014 she was a student, a friend and a niece who deserved to grow up.”<\/p>\n Riley was a student at Dean Middle School, Cypress Fairbanks ISD confirmed in a February letter from the school\u2019s principal, Michael George, to parents and guardians.\u00a0<\/p>\n On the night she was stabbed, officers responded to a call at 8047 Grow Lane around 8 p.m. in northwest Houston.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Officers responded to a stabbing call at the above address and located a juvenile female suffering from a stab wound,” according to an HPD news release. “Houston Fire Department paramedics transported her to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.”<\/p>\n The stabbing was related to a fight between two groups in an apartment complex parking lot, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
