{"id":26293,"date":"2025-10-29T15:34:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T15:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/26293\/"},"modified":"2025-10-29T15:34:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T15:34:06","slug":"community-effort-brings-in-355k-85000-pounds-of-peanut-butter-to-north-texas-local-profile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/26293\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Effort Brings In $355K, 85,000 Pounds Of Peanut Butter To North Texas &#8211; Local Profile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From classrooms to city halls, North Texans came together to support the Food Bank\u2019s mission &#13;\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"dropcap\">The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) <a href=\"https:\/\/ntfb.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PBD_Results_2025_NR_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced the results<\/a> of its 12th Annual Peanut Butter Drive, bringing in more than $355,000 and 85,000 pounds of peanut butter during September.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The yearly campaign, held during Hunger Action Month, helps provide essential nutrition to families and children facing food insecurity across North Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Feeding Families Across 12 Counties<\/p>\n<p>For the fourth consecutive year, the drive spanned all 12 counties served by NTFB, uniting cities, schools, faith communities, businesses and neighborhood groups. Peanut butter remains one of the most requested items at food pantries due to its long shelf life and high protein content, making it a reliable source of nourishment for children and families in need.<\/p>\n<p>Funds and food collected during the campaign will support NTFB\u2019s children\u2019s programs and its network of nearly 500 partner agencies across North Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Plano And Fairview Lead The Way<\/p>\n<p>At the awards and celebration held on Oct. 21 at the NTFB Perot Family Campus in Plano, several top contributors were recognized for their efforts:<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop City: Plano&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop City Per Capita: Fairview&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop Company: NTT DATA&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop School: Rice Middle School&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop Educational Organization: Plano ISD&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop Faith-Based Organization: JustServe \/ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop Neighborhood: Heritage Ranch (Fairview)&#13;<br \/>\n\tTop Community Group: HungerMitao&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Kroger returned as the Grocery Champion Sponsor, while a new peanut butter mascot added a playful element, making appearances at schools and community events to rally donations.<\/p>\n<p>Community Spirit In Action<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Peanut Butter Drive is about more than jars collected \u2014 it\u2019s about coming together to make sure children in our community don\u2019t go hungry,\u201d said Trisha Cunningham, president and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank, in <a href=\"https:\/\/ntfb.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/PBD_Results_2025_NR_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">an official statement<\/a>. \u201cWe continue to distribute record amounts of food each year, and these contributions help us provide nutritious options for the more than 254,000 children facing hunger in North Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cunningham credited the campaign\u2019s success to a dedicated volunteer committee and local partners whose outreach expanded the drive\u2019s reach. Members included representatives from Nihao Food Bank Initiative, Ryan LLC, JustServe, HungerMitao, the Collin County Homeless Coalition and Plano ISD.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting Hunger, One Jar At A Time<\/p>\n<p>Cunningham said the drive reflects \u201cwhat\u2019s best about North Texas \u2014 neighbors helping neighbors,\u201d and thanked everyone who contributed, from corporate sponsors to families donating a single jar.<\/p>\n<p>The North Texas Food Bank has been serving the region for more than 40 years, distributing over 136 million meals last year through its vast network of partners.
