The findings? Both H-E-B and Trader Joe&#8217;s are having mammoth years where their upticks in customer visits each month surpass that of the overall grocery industry.<\/p>\n<p>Placer.ai&#8217;s research revealed H-E-B store visits increased 8.5% in January compared to January 2025 figures, while Trader Joe&#8217;s experienced a 9% increase in customers during the same timespan. The Texas and California-founded chains largely swept the overall industry competition, with the grocery category uncovering that typical store visits grew just 3.2% between January 2025 and January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>H-E-B continued its new year momentum into the spring, with it recording a 5.2% increase in shopper visits in March. Target snuck ahead as the No. 1 champion of March grocery visits, growing 6% year over year.<\/p>\n<p>Other major retailers making noise include Costco Wholesale, which has steadily grown over the last few years despite a membership fee increase back in September 2024.
