Decatur head coach Steve Huff announced his resignation Thursday, according to Matt Stepp<\/a> of Dave Campbell\u2019s Texas Football. He is taking a job as head football coach and athletic coordinator at Chickasha High School in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n Huff has led Decatur for four seasons, posting a 36-18 overall record. The Eagles have had solid playoff success, with state semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n Huff, who had a yearly salary of $146,940 in the 2025-26 school year, maintained the Eagles\u2019 reputation as one of the premier Class 4A programs in the Fort Worth area along with Springtown, Brock, and Alvarado.<\/p>\n He led Decatur to a 8-4 overall record and a 5-1 District 5-4A Division I record. The Eagles, after beating Castleberry and Paris in the bi-district and area rounds, respectively, fell to Celina in the regional semifinals.<\/p>\n Huff has 124 wins and 37 losses in his Texas high school football career \u2013 the most high profile victory came in 2017, when his College Station squad upset Aledo in the Class 5A Division II state championship.<\/p>\n Huff will join a Chickisha program that went 2-8 and 2-5 in district play in 2025.<\/p>\n This story was originally published April 23, 2026 at 4:18 PM.<\/p>\n
