HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A Michigan man is facing a federal charge in connection with a shooting at a Houston restaurant that left three people injured, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Jeremy Christopher Ford, 36, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon following the April 8 shooting at Confessions restaurant, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which announced the charge on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Investigators allege Ford, who performs as rapper All-Star JR, fired a gun inside the restaurant while dozens of customers were present. Court documents state Ford was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a 2014 home invasion conviction.<\/p>\n
According to the complaint, the shooting may have stemmed from an attempted robbery involving Ford’s chain. The situation allegedly became physical, and a gun fell to the ground. Authorities say Ford picked up the weapon and began firing as people fled toward an elevator.<\/p>\n
Three people were shot. Two were involved in the confrontation, while a third person, who was not involved, suffered minor injuries, records show.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators allegedly shows Ford firing the gun and later returning toward one of the victims on the ground and shooting again. Another clip reportedly shows him attempting to wipe the weapon off and leave it at a hostess stand.<\/p>\n
After the shooting, authorities say Ford traveled back to Michigan, where he posted on social media and released music videos referencing the incident and individuals involved.<\/p>\n
The owner of Confessions said in a statement that the business is grateful for law enforcement’s work and has implemented additional safety measures since the shooting.<\/p>\n
Ford remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday. If convicted on the weapons charge, he could face up to 15 years in federal prison.<\/p>\n
