Looking back: Loaded with a talented transfer portal class headlined by junior outfielder Aiden Robbins and junior catcher Carson Tinney, Texas baseball has jumped out to an impressive 30\u20138 record in head coach Jim Schlossnagle\u2019s second year on the Forty Acres.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking forward: The starting pitching trio of sophomore Dylan Volantis, senior Ruger Riojas and graduate student Luke Harrison must maintain dominance on the mound and the bats to heat up again to return the storied program to Omaha.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Softball:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking back: With an overall record of 35\u20137 and a Southeastern Conference record of 12\u20136, Texas softball has accumulated 15 wins against ranked opponents so far this season. The Longhorns have rallied around junior infielder Katie Stewart\u2019s dominance at bat, a player who has so far recorded 54 hits, 22 home runs and a broken window at an apartment complex near Red & Charline McCombs Field.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking forward: The Longhorns look to use a bounce-back series win against No. 13 Georgia to propel them through their final pair of SEC series before the conference tournament starts on May 5. The defending national champions will then direct their attention toward a potential postseason run.<\/p>\n
Men\u2019s basketball:<\/p>\n
Looking back: After almost missing out on a spot in March Madness, Texas men\u2019s basketball made it all the way to the Sweet 16. The Longhorns defeated No. 6 BYU and No. 3 Gonzaga before falling by two points to No. 2 Purdue to end head coach Sean Miller\u2019s first season in Austin.<\/p>\n
Looking forward: Texas lost key players to the portal and to the 2026 NBA Draft, leaving sophomore center Matas Vokietaitis as the only starter remaining. However, the Longhorns have received commitments from highly-touted transfers, TCU forward David Punch and Colorado guard Isaiah Johnson. Highly-ranked recruits, guard Austin Goosby and forward Bo Ogden, are also set to be impact freshmen next season.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s basketball:<\/p>\n
Looking back: Texas has made the NCAA Final Four in back-to-back seasons, establishing itself as one of the country\u2019s premier programs but failing to make the national title game finale. Rori Harmon\u2019s graduation and entrance into the WNBA ends an era of the team under head coach Vic Schaefer. However, Madison Booker remains in Austin for her senior season as the centerpiece of the Texas roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking forward: After Jordan Lee, Justice Carlton and Aaliyah Crump entered the transfer portal earlier this month, Schaefer is faced with increased roster turnover beyond the exit of graduating contributors heading into the summer.
