Game rooms can operate more freely in Lubbock County after a judge signed an \u201cagreed\u201d temporary order Friday between the county and El Fronteriso game room located just south of Lubbock.<\/p>\n

The business sued the county <\/a>on March 2 just days after the Commissioners Court approved tighter restrictions on game rooms including hours of operation Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.<\/p>\n

The agreed order instead resets the hours allowing a game room to operate from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. There is no restriction for days of the week \u2013 meaning a game room can operate seven days a week.<\/p>\n

Also as part of the agreed order, the county cannot force game rooms to display a sign saying gambling is illegal in Texas.<\/p>\n

The temporary order will remain in place until El Fronteriso v. Lubbock County can go to trial in the 237th State District Court. The case is before retired visiting judge Patrick Pirtle.<\/p>\n

Except for the provisions in the temporary agreed order, the rest of the county\u2019s updated game room ordinance remains in effect.<\/p>\n
