{"id":265167,"date":"2026-04-25T00:50:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T00:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/265167\/"},"modified":"2026-04-25T00:50:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T00:50:19","slug":"medical-examiner-identifies-man-shot-outside-south-staples-smoke-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/265167\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical examiner identifies man shot outside South Staples smoke shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Nueces County Medical Examiner identified the man killed on Thursday as 31-year-old Anthony Rodriguez.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Corpus Christi police also arrested 19-year-old Sebastian Carrillo Sosa in connection with the shooting on South Staples Street that left Rodriguez dead.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Staples Street, outside a smoke shop and nearby food truck. They said Rodriguez was shot, taken to a hospital, and later died.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said a possible robbery may have led to the shooting.
