1 The musical Ragtime\u2014 Kudos to the performers and producers of the Dallas Theater Center\u2019s production of\u00a0Ragtime, which just closed its run at the Wyly Theatre in downtown Dallas.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This show is one of the best we have seen in several years. The actors, the singing and the production are all excellent. A plus is that students in the theater programs at Southern Methodist University play important roles in the performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This was our first visit to\u00a0the Wyly, and we found it a perfect venue for the show.<\/p>\n

He was just the\u00a0fourth\u00a0player to successfully defend the\u00a0Masters\u00a0after Tiger Woods, Nick\u00a0Faldo\u00a0and Jack Nicklaus.<\/p>\n
I think McIlroy will win his third consecutive Masters next year!\u00a0<\/p>\n

3\u00a0Remembering\u00a0a friend\u00a0\u2014 Respectfully, I have noticed that since the printing transition, my fingertips are a bit more black from the ink than in the past. While\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not something I look forward to, it does make me smile some days.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The reason? Louise Kahn was my friend. She was a Dallas philanthropist who lived her life as a volunteer and financial supporter for\u00a0numerous\u00a0Dallas arts, cultural, educational and health organizations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She was also adventurous and liked to laugh. My parents called us the \u201codd couple.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The story of how we met is too long for this submission, but I remember this about Louise \u2014 she read the paper daily with white gloves. When I noticed this one day, I asked why.<\/p>\n
She told me it kept her fingers from getting dirty when she read the paper. It made sense,\u00a0still I\u00a0had to smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I smile now when I find myself wondering if I should purchase a pair of white, cloth gloves to do the same.<\/p>\n
So\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0the reason for the three cheers \u2014 not for the newsprint on my\u00a0finger tips, but for the memory of a friend who makes me smile.<\/p>\n
