AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 It was an epic battle at the University of Texas, and in the end, Georgia Tech claimed the championship at the Alienware Collegiate Clash.<\/p>\n
Cheers filled the arena as 24 collegiate esports teams from across the country competed in this year\u2019s featured game, *Marvel Rivals*. What may look like gameplay on a screen is part of a fast-growing global industry that\u2019s transforming competitive gaming into a legitimate pipeline for careers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re getting collegiate esports teams together competing over a massive prize pool,\u201d said Matt McGowan of Alienware.<\/p>\n
$30,000 Prize Pool on the Line<\/p>\n
The competition featured a $30,000 prize pool in gaming gear.<\/p>\n
Each member of the first-place team took home a fully loaded 16-inch Alienware Area-51 gaming laptop. Second-place winners received Alienware pro headsets and gaming chairs, along with bragging rights and national exposure.<\/p>\n
